Homeopathic Birth Pack & Kittening Information

DURING PREGNANCY:
* For flexiblity of tissues and uterine strength at delivery:
Weekly till ninth week, one dose Caulophyllum 30C
* Homeopathic vaccination booster in 5th week:
Feline URI nosode potency 30C, one dose am and pm for 5 days.

LABOUR - ONCE CONTRACTIONS ARE 2 MINS OR LESS APART:
* Caulophyllum 30C one dose each 15 mins till birth of first kitten.
* Ensure one placenta for each kitten, else see later notes.

ONCE ALL ARE BORN, and all placentas - WAIT 2 HOURS THEN:
Caulophyllum 30C every 30 minutes for 4 doses to close down uterus.
Expect to see contractions while this happens, so do not be alarmed if you do.
Wait another 30 mins so as not to interfere with homeopathics,
 then give dose of Animalax or equivalent laxative.
(Repeat laxative am and pm of next day if no bowel movement.)

QUEEN'S MILK SUPPLY NOT KEEPING UP WITH BABIES,
OR ANY TIME THERE IS A VERY LARGE LITTER TO FEED:
Dose with Lac Deflor 30C, am and pm for one to three days. Do not overdo!

It can cause milk engorgement which hurts

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:

INERTIA - IF QUEEN SEEMS TO HAVE INERTIA AND
MORE THAN 1 HOUR SINCE LAST KITTEN:
* Caulophyllum 30C every 15 mins till next birth but max of 1.5 to 2 hrs.
* If no results, Secale 6C every 15 mins till next kitten.
Note: Do not confuse resting/sleeping with inertia.
If stressed - eg shiver/shake otherwise apparently sleeping - see vet - don't wait.

RETAINED PLACENTS:
If one or more placentas retained, Dose Secale 6, one dose every hour for 3 doses.
This should encourage placenta to be expelled. If not, see vet.

C-SECTION NEEDED:
Dose before leaving for the vet, one dose of Arnica 1M or 10M.
Give another dose of it on arrival home. Ensures healing, no shock and no bruising.
Other items (Give different remedies at least 5 mins apart - prefer 15 mins apart):
Hypericum for pain (30c or 200C) one dose or repeat if needed.
Also hypericum cream on operation cut to heal it, and help pain.
If needed, Phosphorus for nausea (200C) one dose. (Another if needed.)
Verat Ver 200C - one dose to clear anesthetic.

QUEEN REJECTS NEWBORNS, ESP AFTER C-SECTION:
Dose Lachesis 200 every 30 mins for up to 4 doses. Often one is sufficient.

NO MILK SEEMS AVAILABLE AFTER THE BIRTH:
Dose with Urtica Urens 30C every 15 mins for 4 doses.
Repeat over next 4 days if necessary, but also consult vet as that's not normal.

LARGE LITTER ALL LOST AND QUEEN LOADED WITH MILK:
Dose with Urtica Urens 3C every hour for 2 days;
then 4 times a day for three or four more days to stop the milk.

LARGE LITTER REDUCED TO 1 or 2 AND TOO MUCH MILK:
Dose with Urtica Urens 3C every 4 hours for 3 doses. NOT MORE.

WEAK KITTENS:
Dose with Nutridrops,
and/or supplememt with First Kitten Colostrum.

MASTITIS:
Use phytolacca cream on teats as often as needed.
Dose queen by mouth with Phytolacca 30C as needed.

PYOMETRA:
Dose queen with Pyrogenium 30C as needed; go up to Pyrogenium 200C if necessary, 
and even Pyrogenium 1M if necessary (may be necessary if closed pyometra
 or strong antibiotics are used at the same time, as remedy must overcome antibiotic weakening).

BLEEDING EMERGENCY:
Use Calendula 0 (=tincture) dabbed on cotton swab directly on area to slow bleeding. 
Then apply on dry bandage with pressure to stop bleeding permanently.

QUEEN'S VULVA TORN/BRUISED:
Hypercal (hypericum & calendula) ointment to handle pain and to heal without infection.
If/when there is no open wound, apply arnica cream to heal bruising.

RUNT KITTEN:
Dose with tissue salt (6D strength) of Silica, namely Silicea 6D, daily for 1 week,
then weekly, to encourage fontanelle closing and better growth.

HEART DEFECT KITTEN:
See homeopathic vet immediately, needs remedy to overcome it asap. (Can be done.)

CLEFT PALATE KITTEN:
Will need tube feeding as sucking not possible. Do every 2 hrs, 1cc per 100g, 
ensuring that kitten is nice and warm before during and after feeding.
Do not get liquid in the lungs. Dose with Aconite 200 one drop per formula feed
 to nip infection in the bud. Get vet's advice asap.
